Agnone, the city of the patron saint of chefs

Agnone is the city of the patron saint of the chefs of Italy, San Francesco Caracciolo.

The saint came to the city in 1608 and here died a few days later, on the 4th of June, because of a sudden fever. The friars of the order of St Philip Neri had asked him to come to Agnone to found a mission of his order. It is told that the heart of the saint was hidden by the friars in the Church of the Annunciation in Agnone and was never found.
